Description
The Camano 31 has quickly become one of the most desirable "fast" trawlers on the resale market. Typical owners comments are: excellent resale value, fuel efficient, low maintenance (no exterior teak), great mechanical access, easy to handle, outstanding seaworthiness, superior visibility and "ROCK SOLID" construction.
<>
The "KEELFORM" hull design incorporates a combination of displacement and planning features. Foward, the stem is deep as it would be in a displacement hull. Aft, the hull bottom flattens out into hard chines (like a planning hull) and has a large keel for propeller protection and tracking abilities. The two different designs allows the boat to cruise at lower speeds just like any other trawler. As the hull speed increases (12 to 14 knots) the "KEELFORM" design allows the boat to burn less fuel than a semi displacement or planning hull of similiar displacement. The keel provides boyancy that helps keep the transom from digging in. She will "top out" at about 20 knots and only the full planning hull designs would perform better. The engine is mounted deep in the keel giving the boat a low center of gravity, the large keel and low center of gravity allows the boat to tracks beautifully and remarkably stable. High freeboard ensures a excellant protection from big seas. No other trawler offers such features as the Camano 31, she is truly a "one of a kind". "Canadian Goose" was orignally owned by Bob Warman (the designer and company owner). Bob equipped the boat with the best features using her as his "SHOW" boat.
