In May 2003, marine industry leaders Randy Ramsey and Dan Reitz formed Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales (JBYS) to meet the growing demand for an all-inclusive sales and service operation in the Southeast. Not long after, Hatteras Yachts recognized this perfect match for its Carolinas customer base and awarded JBYS the authorized sales and service dealership for North Carolina, South Carolina & Georgia.
JBYS' primary sales office was established at the company's 175-acre facility in Beaufort, North Carolina. In June 2003, offices were opened in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina just a stone's throw from the ICW. Not long after in November of that same year, offices were opened at the City Marina Building in Charleston, South Carolina.
After seven months of quickly proving itself capable of handling additional opportunities, JBYS was awarded the expanded Hatteras Yachts dealer territory of Maryland and Virginia in December 2003. Offices in Baltimore, Maryland and Virginia Beach, Virginia were opened immediately, a move that effectively doubled the JBYS territory. In 2008, JBYS further extended their pre-owned sales efforts into Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Wanting to offer customers a wider variety of new boats to choose from, in addition to their vast line-up of larger new & pre-owned offshore vessels, Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales added Albemarle Boats, Cabo Yachts & Grand Banks Yachts.
Randy Ramsey, well known in the sportfishing industry for his custom boatbuilding success at Jarrett Bay Boatworks, is responsible for JBYS' corporate vision as Chairman, and Dan Reitz, former co-owner and CFO of Big Rock Sports, is responsible for overseeing the company's financial matters. In March 2008, Jan Boone, former Vice President of Sales for the Hatteras Yachts Division of Brunswick Corporation, was brought on board to oversee the new and pre-owned vessel sales efforts for all JBYS locations along the Eastern Seaboard. Her other key responsibilities include: Company-wide strategic planning, annual & monthly sales objectives definition & management, sales & market trend analysis, and manufacturer & customer relations supervision.
Warranty and repair work within the region is coordinated through Jarrett Bay's 175-acre industrial park located on North Carolina's Intracoastal Waterway. This site is home to numerous boating-related businesses, including distributors for Caterpillar, MTU and ZF Marine. With ample dock space and 50- to 220-ton travel lifts available, Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales is fully equipped to offer any service required from their new & pre-owned vessel customers, including everything from engine repowering to aluminum fabrication to complete interior or exterior refurbishing.
